About this study

What is the study about?

We are studying how panellists approach disagreement, understand an issue and perceive the other panellists before and after a conversation. The study compares panels receiving different short briefings. There is no personal score and you do not need to reach agreement.

What would you do?

Complete 21 questions privately before receiving any panel briefing. Then follow the facilitator’s briefing and take part in the panel. Complete the 25 after questions promptly once the conversation is over, using the same personal link for the same panel.

Taking part is your choice

Taking part is voluntary. You can choose “Prefer not to answer” for any question or stop by closing the page. Optional written questions can be left blank. Closing the page does not delete answers already saved.

Your panel and your return link

Your private link keeps your before and after answers together for one panel. Use the organiser’s personal link if you have one, and keep your link private. Do not share a questionnaire with another panellist. If the panel details are wrong, ask the facilitator for the correct link before beginning.

Who sees your information?

The study team can access your saved responses and panel details through protected organiser tools. Named speakers and written answers may identify you; this is not an anonymous questionnaire. Private access keys are excluded from research exports.

Recording the panel

This questionnaire does not record audio or video. Any permission to record the panel is arranged separately by the organisers. Agreeing to this questionnaire does not give permission for a recording.

How long do we keep your answers?

We delete this questionnaire’s responses and identifying panel details after 30 September 2027. Until then, you can withdraw this questionnaire’s saved answers using your private link. Deleting answers from the active study store does not remove copies already held in hosting backups; the study team must also handle any retained copies when carrying out a withdrawal.

Questions or withdrawal

For questions about the study or help withdrawing your answers, contact Beau Lotto at beau@labofmisfits.com. You can also use “Withdraw my answers” from your questionnaire. Withdrawing removes both your before and after answers for this questionnaire.
